General Abdullahi Ali Omar (Somali: Cabdilaahi Cali Cumar, Arabic: عبد الله علي عمر), a.k.a. Daad, is a Somali military official.
Omar hails from the town of Galkacyo, situated in the north-central Mudug region of Somalia.[1]
In his younger years, he studied at Jamal Abdel Nasser High School in Mogadishu before joining the army.[1]
Omar has served as Chief of Staff of the armed forces in Puntland. He was also the Chief of Army of the Transitional Federal Government from 10 February 2007, when he replaced General Ismail Qasim Naji.[2][3]
